Rs 1,752,000 collected as bribe by the Judiciary: Bribe report analysis

14,802 reports and a whopping Rs 386,150,381 collected as bribe! Between October 31 and November 19, 2011 a total of 237 bribes have been reported across the country. While 85 bribes were reported against the police department, the number of bribes collected by the judiciary and the registration department stood at 6 and 21 respectively. The other reports are spread across the customs, Indian railways, passport, water supply, municipal services, income tax, excise and other departments. However, what is intriguing is the ratio of the bribe amount to the number of bribes collected. The amount collected by the judiciary accounts for Rs 1,752,000 in comparison to Rs 2, 56,010 collected by the police. These reports highlight the dynamics of bribe count to the bribe amount.
